This assortment is unique as it has two releases. The variant release has the exact same backer card and the same Sneak Attack sticker, but differs in the sticker that is placed on the bubble. This variant is more rare and replaces the word "RACER" with the word "FLYER" and has two images rather than one. Additionally, the back-of-the-card text has been altered pretty significantly from the more common release.

Common Release Text:
The most powerful and evil force the world has ever seen has seized control of the earth's most sinister villains. It is manipulating them to carry out its' diabolical scheme for world domination. The only hero standing in the way is Spider-Man. It will take his unique powers and weapons to defeat the Masters of Evil and save the earth from total annihilation. Only you can help the "Sneak Attack" team win! Bonus "Sneak Attack" sticker badge enclosed! Now you are a part of the team!

This wave appears to have been issued twice; once in 1998 and again, five years later in 2003! The first release has backside text indicating itself as "SERIES 1". The front of the package is a close-up of Spider-Man's eyes. The later release in 2003 has a completely different packaging design showing a web-shooting Spider-Man on the front. The figures have no discernible differences. It is important to note that the only figure in the 2003 release that I have laid eyes on is Triple Threat Spider-Man.

This assortment had two simultaneous releases; the first was under the "Spider-Man 2000" title without any exclusivity and the second dropped the "2000" and was marked as a "Grand" release. The "Grand" logo doesn't appear printed on the box but is spelled out on a sticker applied to the back. The figures and accessories are otherwise identical. To make this wave more confusing is that the Wave Riders were released previously as the "Web Splasher Deluxe" wave in 1997. The vehicles have been redecoed and slightly changed and the figures were unique as well. Lastly, the picture of the figure on the front of the box didn't match the figure inside for any of the releases.

A comic book icon known worldwide, Spider-Man's message is clear: With great power there comes great responsibility. For over 30 years Peter Parker -- an ordinary boy transformed into an extraordinary hero from the bite of a radioactive spider -- has thrilled fans of all ages. Through all of Spider-Man's exciting adventures and sensational battles with sinister super-villains, young Peter Parker still relates to his many fans as he tries to maintain some semblance of a normal life.

Having been bitten by a radioactive spider at a science expo, student Peter Parker discovered that he now possessed all of the attributes of the arachnid and became the amazing Spider-Man! Spidey's dexterity and agility have been increased a thousandfold, and his natural sense of balance amplified as well, allowing him to perform acrobatic feats which confound an Olympic-level gymnast!

This assortment is under the Grand label and are a very rare find, with each figure packaged with each figure packaged with a VHS cassette. This is one of two known assortments packaged with VHS cassettes.

Year: 2003 Asst. #: 47525 SPIDER POWER

The last "Legacy Scale" series until 2006, this wave is extremely rare and comprised of a previous wave from 2008 but in new packaging. The figures are the same. The card art is different and duplicates the art of the larger scale figures at that time. It is a large picture of Spider-Man both shooting and swinging from a web. The original card art was a close-up of Spider-Man's eyes. The top left contains a small version of the "SPIDER POWER" logo, which on the first wave was found larger and on the bubble's sticker. The text on the back of the card is the same, though the design is new. As mentioned in the 2008 wave notes, the only figure I have seen in this packaging is Triple Threat Spider-Man.

Year: 2006 Asst. #: 72950 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN WEB SPLASHERS

Like the X-Men line, Spider-Man figures moved to a larger scale over the past few years. However, in 2006, three years after the last "Legacy Scale" release the smaller 5" scale resurfaced for one last time. Some molds pop up in future Spider-Man series, but not as a full wave or near full wave. In this case, all but three figures maintain the "Legacy Scale". Additionally, the next wave maintains the "The Amazing Spider-Man" title and the sub-series "Web Splashers". However, none of those figures are "Legacy Scale" and therefore this is the final wave catalogued.
