Using a radiation-draining device, Doctor Leonard Samson sought to cure Bruce Banner of his transformations into the Hulk. Unsuccessful, Samson later used the siphoned gamma energy and exposed himself to a portion of the Hulk's power. Becoming permanently endowed with amazing physical abilities brought on by this experiment, Doc Samson has dedicated himself to ending the Banner's nightmare dual existence as the Hulk.
